I walk for every child of war

I am embarking on my Annual UNICEF Fundraiser commemorating October 18th, the anniversary of the day I was wounded at 13. Since this year marks the 32nd anniversary, my goal is to walk 32 kilometers (about 20 miles) and raise funds for UNICEF, an organization that helps millions of children around the world who now suffer the same fate I did or worse.

The other day, I found this picture of me at 13. I feel such love and empathy for this little girl, so innocent and completely unaware that in mere months her life would change irrevocably. This is why I have decided to make October 18th a day of resilience and strength, but also a day of empathy and action by helping children in war-torn countries.

I will carry this picture with me as I walk every step of those 32 kilometers. I will walk for her, but I will also walk for every child caught in the storm of war.

Please consider helping me reach my fundraising goal. We've all heard the line: "No donation is too small," but I truly mean it. I know firsthand the tremendous impact just ten dollars' worth of candy and school supplies can have on the life and spirit of a young girl caught in a war.

Thank you!

For every child.
